Why good stores get stuck in search

It's rarely the products or the prices. Most stores I look at have the same three problems, and you can't see most of them from the storefront.

Google gets lost in your store

WooCommerce makes a new page for every filter, tag and sort order. It's generous like that. Google ends up spending its time on those pages instead of the ones that sell.

2

The pages you have aren't set up to rank

Category pages are a grid of products and no words. Product pages use the maker's description, the same one every other store has. The titles, headings and links don't match what people actually type into Google. So Google has little reason to rank them, and shoppers have little reason to pick you.

3

The pages people search for don't exist

People search for things like “espresso machines under $500” or “grinders for pour over”. You sell exactly that, but there's no page for it, so the sale goes to a store that has one. Most stores are missing hundreds of these pages, and the products for them are already in the catalog.

The person behind Win The Search

Vukasin Ilić, WooCommerce SEO consultant
Vukasin IlićNovi Sad, Serbia

I've run Win The Search since 2021, and I've done SEO since I was 14.

Before going out on my own, I spent five years at Munday Digital. I started there as a junior and left as head of SEO, after working on 20+ campaigns for Australian and global brands and managing the team of SEOs, writers and VAs behind them.

Since then I've checked sites for SEO before buyers paid six and seven figures for them, and co-founded Linkter, an internal linking tool for WordPress.

WordPress is home for me. Every site I build for myself runs on it, so I know what themes, plugins and hosting do to a store's rankings, and how to change them without breaking checkout.

My reports lead with orders and revenue from search. Traffic and rankings are in there too, further down.

What WooCommerce SEO costs

One monthly price covers the whole job. Here's what it is, and everything that's in it.

Ongoing work from$2,500a month, month-to-month

Most stores land between $3,000 and $6,000, depending on the size of the catalog and how much gets built each month.

An agency makes sense if you want ads, email and a big content team under one contract. If what you want is more orders from search, you'll get more done without the layers in between.

WooCommerce SEO: the questions I get most

What do WooCommerce SEO services include?

+

Everything it takes to get more orders from Google and AI search: the strategy, technical fixes and speed, category and product pages, product data and Google Shopping, AI search, links, and order tracking. What gets done each month depends on what will bring in the most orders next.

How much do WooCommerce SEO services cost?

+

Ongoing work starts at $2,500 a month, and most stores land between $3,000 and $6,000. A bigger catalog and more pages built each month push it up. If you want the longer version, I wrote up what's fair to pay in my ecommerce SEO pricing guide.

How long until WooCommerce SEO brings in more orders?

+

Fixes and speed work can show up within a few weeks. Rewritten category and product pages usually take 3 to 6 months to bring in more orders, and the bigger gains come after that. If Google has simply been missing good pages, it can move faster.

Is WooCommerce good for SEO?

+

Yes, when it's set up well. You control everything: the pages, the templates, the hosting and the plugins. The catch is that nothing stops a store from getting slow and cluttered, so the setup decides more than the platform does.

Is Yoast or Rank Math enough?

+

Great plugins, I use them. They handle page titles, sitemaps and the basics Google reads. They won't rewrite your category pages, though, or speed up a heavy theme.

What will you do about my filter pages?

+

Keep the few that people actually search for, like “black espresso machines”, and turn them into proper category pages. The rest keep working for shoppers but stay out of Google's way.

Do you handle Google Shopping and free listings?

+

Yes. Your products can show up in Google's Shopping tab for free, from a clean product feed. I fix the feed errors and make sure the feed and your product pages agree on price, stock and shipping. Google's AI shopping features read the same data.

Can you get my products into ChatGPT and Google's AI answers?

+

Nobody controls what AI tools recommend, but you can make your store easy to pick. They lean on clear product data, pages that answer what shoppers ask, reviews, and mentions on sites they trust. That's part of the AI search work, and visits from AI get tracked on their own so you can see what they bring in.

Can you move my store to WooCommerce without losing rankings?

+

Yes. Most drops after a move come from old pages that point nowhere, so every old product, category and page gets matched to its new address before launch. Rankings and orders get watched closely for the months after. The SEO side of a move is part of ongoing work.

Do you work with page builders and themes like Elementor, Divi or Bricks?

+

Yes, and with block themes too. If a builder or theme is what's slowing the store down, I'll show you what it's costing you and what it would take to fix, and you decide.

Is WooCommerce SEO worth it for a small store?

+

It comes down to the math. If a few dozen extra orders a month cover the cost, it usually is. If orders are small and margins are thin, a one-off audit and doing the fixes yourself might make more sense, and I'll tell you that on the call.

What do you need from me?

+

Admin access to the store, Google Search Console and analytics, and a short call about your best-sellers and margins. After that, mostly a quick look at big new pages before they go live.
