Why WordPress sites get stuck in search

WordPress can rank as well as anything else out there. When a WordPress site doesn't, it's usually one of these.

01

The SEO plugin is doing all the work

Yoast or Rank Math got installed, the lights turned green, and people called it "SEO". A plugin only handles the basic settings, it doesn't run your SEO.

02

Google is indexing pages nobody needs

Tag archives, author pages, attachment pages, internal search results and thin categories. WordPress creates a lot of these by default, and they water down the pages that matter.

03

The site is slow

A heavy page builder, 40 plugins, cheap shared hosting and huge images add up fast. People leave slow pages before they ever see your offer.

04

A redesign or migration wiped out your rankings

New theme, new URL structure, no redirects. Rankings you built over years can disappear in a few weeks.

05

Nobody owns the whole thing

One agency built the site, a consultant sends recommendations, and a developer is supposed to implement them. It's usually the process that ensures the important stuff never end up being shipped.

06

Your pages don't match what buyers search

Service and product pages written around what you want to say, not what people type into Google. They go live, they don't rank, and you have no idea why.

Recognize two or more? Each one is fixable, and a $50 Scan shows you which to fix first.

What's included

Everything that moves rankings, done on your site

All of it happens on your actual WordPress site. Changes get made, tested and tracked, not written up in a report and handed over.

01 · Technical SEO

A clean foundation Google can crawl

Pages nobody needs come out of the index, and the plugin settings, sitemaps, redirects and canonicals get done right.

02 · Speed

Fast pages on your real templates

Hosting, caching, plugins, page builders, images, fonts and scripts, tuned until Core Web Vitals pass on the pages that make money.

03 · Keyword research

A site built around what buyers search

Search intent turns into a plan: which pages to create, merge or delete, and a 6-month roadmap in the right order.

04 · Content

Pages that rank and convert

Titles, headings and copy rewritten around what people type into Google, plus refreshes, pruning and a blog that feeds your money pages.

05 · Internal linking

Structure that sends authority where it pays

One of the fastest levers there is. Site architecture, categories, breadcrumbs, hub pages and an internal linking plan.

06 · Tracking

Know what SEO is worth

GA4, Tag Manager and Search Console set up properly, leads and sales tracked, and a monthly report on what moved, why and what it's worth.

Why not a big agency?

At most agencies, your retainer barely touches your website

Agencies have real costs, and your monthly fee covers all of them. With one senior specialist, the same money goes into the work.

Typical agency

What your retainer pays for

Office rent and overhead

A sales team that brought you in

An account manager who relays messages

Junior staff doing most of the work

Dozens of clients per team

A 6 or 12-month contract to keep you paying

vs
Win the Search

What your money pays for here

A senior SEO with 15+ years on WordPress

Changes made directly on your WordPress site

Reports tied to leads and revenue

Direct contact with the person doing the work

A few clients at a time, 5 ongoing seats max

Month-to-month, no lock-in

An agency is the right call when you need a big team across many channels at once. For getting found on Google, you usually don't.

Questions

WordPress SEO questions people ask

How much do WordPress SEO services cost?

The Scan is $50, ongoing work starts at $2,500 a month with most engagements landing between $3,000 and $6,000, and a new site starts at $3,000. Across the industry you'll see anything from a few hundred dollars a month to $20,000+. What's fair is broken down in the SEO pricing guide.

Can't I just install Yoast or Rank Math?

You should install one. But an SEO plugin handles settings: titles, meta descriptions, sitemaps, basic schema. It doesn't pick your keywords, fix your site structure, speed up your theme or write pages people want to read. Useful tool, not a strategy.

How long does WordPress SEO take to work?

Technical fixes can show up within weeks. Meaningful growth usually takes 3 to 6 months, and the bigger returns come after 6 to 12. If someone promises faster, ask them how.

Will you break my site?

Bigger changes get tested on a staging copy first, and there's always a backup before anything goes live. You keep full ownership of the site, hosting, domain and data the whole time.

Do you work with Elementor, Divi or other page builders?

Yes. The work happens inside whatever builder your site already uses, and part of the job is making sure the builder isn't what's slowing you down. New builds use Bricks.

Do you do WooCommerce SEO?

Yes. WooCommerce SEO gets the same work plus product and category pages, filters and faceted navigation, product schema, and a close eye on pages Google shouldn't be crawling.

Is SEO still worth it with AI search?

Yes. Google still sends far more traffic than AI tools do, and what gets you mentioned in AI answers overlaps a lot with good SEO: clear pages, a real reputation and people talking about you. The work covers both.

Do I need to switch hosting?

Not always. If hosting is what's slowing you down, you'll see the numbers and a recommendation on where to move. If you'd rather not deal with hosting at all, The Operator includes it.

Do I need to sign a long contract?

No. Ongoing work is month-to-month. Stay because it's working, not because a contract says so.

What if my site isn't on WordPress?

WordPress is where the work goes fastest, because changes can be made directly on the site. Other platforms work too, if you have a strong in-house team that ships changes quickly.
